A Generalized Approach When we first began the development of the Virtual Cell, we considered the type of tasks our students should be able to perform. As a model of the generalized approach that highlights the types of action, we decided to visualize in a 2D manner the steps a student would have to complete if their assigned goal was to secrete a protein that is induced by a hormone signal.
